Day 18 - Whitley Pike to Roman Camps on the Cheviots - 235 Miles now completed

Weather was dry today which was great! Mind you no change on the first 4 miles.
Sopping wet marsh land with many places over ankle depth, so wet feet again!!!!

Crossing Padon Hill. This got wetter and wetter. The forest ahead was our goal.

After our 4 miles we then moved onto Redesdale Forest which had a great track for 5 miles.
We were so grateful!!!! Could still hear the squelch of water in our boots though!

We arrived at Byrness at lunch time and our Sherpa met us to collect Toby and brought us dry boots! Toby was ready for a rest after 9 miles.

... and our Sherpa brought tea!!!

Along with a slice of freshly baked Victoria sponge cake bless her!

And tea in proper mugs!!!! She's so good to us

With lunch over we set off again out of Byrness up to the Cheviots and this was the view after a long climb up Byrness Hill

This is heading along the final stages of our walk ...we saw no one and it's very desolate

  1. Was beginning to think your hoods would need to be surgically removed!! Nice to see happy smiling faces. Sherpa Nettie obviously has a job for life 🎂
